Shout hooray!

This could be why I was a little late in posting Halloween pictures.

Our cute girl had her golden birthday and we partied for what seemed like 5 straight days!!!!

Here's a peek at just some of the fun!!!!

First - there was a dance clinic that she & her friends went to. These girls love to dance! A bonus was a friend's daughter was one of the teachers!

My sweet friend made the ballerina bear for her cake! She's amazing and the cake was delicious and I love her for taking the time to do this for us!

It was a great day with dancing, playing & cake - what more could a girl want?

Finally on her birthday morning she was greeted with streamers in front of her bedroom door and pancakes made by her dad which is tradition (the pancakes not the streamers).

Hope this sweet girl knows how much she is loved and don't know what we'd do without her!!!

Halloween

It's hasn't been a week yet, so this isn't late right?!

This year we had a Brave princess and a hunter...but I'm getting ahead of myself.

Scott asked RTC when he wanted him to be serve with the WatchDOGS at school and Halloween was chosen. So Scott spent Halloween at the school. If you don't know much about the WatchDOGS program you can go here and find their Facebook page. They're a great organization helping to get more dads, step-dads, uncles, grandfathers into the schools. This year Scott split his time between am Pre-K & 3rd grade. Next year he'll have to have 2 separate days...

Then that night it was trick-or-treating. I've started an online degree program that has mandatory Thursday night meetings, so he was on his own with Merida & Jase Robertson.
  • The girl didn't want to wear a wig so we sprayed her hair red...
  • Not sure if this is much of a costume for him (other than the facial hair & wig) as he had the pants & shirt...

Bottom line - they met up with some friends and had fun...and those things are what make great memories!

PTA Fundraiser

Here are a few pictures of the kids at the recent Rough Rider Run -  our annual PTA fundraiser.

My friend took this picture - hard to believe
she'll be 5 in a few weeks.

They seemed to have fun - I believe it was a successful endeavor for the school. Could they be any cuter?

1st Position

As I've said before (which you can find here) I was not a dancer growing up. I had lots of friends who were, I however opted for sports. The last 2 years she had this magnificent company which came to her daycare. They also hold classes in other locations and their teachers are great! So if you have a Tippi Toes franchise in your area I highly recommend them!

But yesterday was her first day taking ballet at a dance studio and she was super excited. Bless her heart it was all she could do to contain herself! I can tell she paid attention because she was showing me 1st position and last position. What's great for her is that I really don't know, she could be making it up!

I hope I can get pictures of her while she's in class. The joy on her face is really hard to describe or believe that she's really just that happy! Here's to many more classes of sheer joy!

And so another school year begins...

Wow! Where did the summer go? We've had some changes here in our casa - now we have even more.

Today was the day that most kids dread & parents are relieved to see coming...yep 1st day of school! However we were fortunate to have two VERY excited kids; so excited that school had started!

This is in their morning meeting - looks like most
kiddos were happy to be there!

Is she really old enough to be there?

Both have wonderful teachers!

What's even better is they were still excited even after I picked them up!

A Cool Opportunity

A few weeks ago Scott was emailed about a football camp being offered to kids of employees where he works by an NFL player and former Sooner standout. It was a "lottery" type situation so it wasn't a guaranteed thing that he'd get picked, but it was Adrian Peterson after all so we said "sign him up!"

Well - it just so happened that he got into the camp. He's never really tossed a football let alone catch one! Oh well...how bad could it be? Besides, I've heard about camps with sports stars and it's not like the kids actually get that much interaction with them. How surprised was I when AD actually kicked off the camp and did the exercises with the camp goers. Then when they put the kids into smaller groups AD went to the different drills and handed off the ball or tossed a pass.

Why yes that is our boy talking with AD

And here he is setting up for a catch

Not that AD cares - but he sure made a positive impression on this mom. He also made a good impression on the boy and now he can't wait for the season to kickoff! What a positive and cool opportunity!

Another one bites the dust

Yes, another summer is biting the dust!

We started playing machine pitch baseball in May. Typically the teams are scheduled 2 maybe 3 games a week...MAYBE, more like 2. Well May in Oklahoma was a VERY stormy month so a lot of our games were postponed...causing a HECTIC June. We played 16 games in 21 days.

Last night the team of Roosevelt 2 aka the Rays played their last game. They made it all the way to the semifinals of the city tournament. The league had 22 teams and the boys finished 3rd. It was great to see our boys of summer improve along the way.

They represented their school well!

Little Ballerina Girl

April & May proved to be performance months for our dancing girl! The first event was a performance before an Oklahoma City RedHawks baseball game. What worked out great was that it was also our elementary schools' night there too so she got to dance in front of people she knew!!! The RedHawks were leading as the rain rolled in so they won. We ended up getting totally soaked on our way to our car...good times!

Our girl on the jumbo tron!

 May brought her formal recital...

You knew there'd be a video...wait for it...

Now you can enjoy the rest of your day!

Piano Recital

I know everyone has been waiting for this upload since you saw me post there was a recital over the weekend. Since it was in a post about my son please click on the performance below to be mererized with his piano skills! :)

Actually for some reason he got up to the piano so much faster than I anticipated so we join him mid note...keep in mind I don't get paid for this...just do it to embarrass the kiddos.

We'll let ya know how State goes!

With Miss Ursula!

Summer is starting

Ahh the joys of early summer...I grew up in a small town & for the early springs from the time I was 7 until I was 13 every May & June was spent playing softball. I enjoyed it. I unfortunately wasn't good enough to play at the next level, but I can remember practicing A LOT.

My son is entering his first season of machine pitch baseball. This is a whole new avenue for us. This past weekend we got him one of these...

I can remember spending many an afternoon trying to perfect my pitching, throwing and catching. I hope we're giving him a similar experience I had.

He may not be drafted any time soon, but I'm glad he's out there trying.

I just hope he gets the life long friends  like I did!

Easter Weekend

Yes, I'm aware I'm almost a week late. Such is life...

We actually celebrated Easter all weekend long starting with Good Friday. LNC's day care is great in that they still have an Easter egg hunt. It usually is held on their enclosed playground, but due to the rain last week it was held in the kids' classroom. Here's my girl...I had to laugh because as I watched her she would go past the green, orange or blue eggs and only pick up the pink & purple ones. What a silly girl!!!

Then on Saturday we headed over to our friends' elementary school for our annual egg hunt with friends.

Why Indy came to the egg hunt - I'm not real sure...but they both had a really good time!

Then of course on Easter Sunday we went to church and had a great service. It was a great end to a great weekend. So glad the tulips lasted until we could take photos!
