Private Quarters

Just a few lines -

I used to sell for a living. I was a travel agent for 13 years. Then a couple of years ago I found this wonderful company that direct sells bedding & bath. Think a Pampered Chef idea only it's high quality linens you can feel before you actually purchase. Anyway, I had let my membership slide, until today. Today and tomorrow you can sign up to be a consultant for $7.00. With the amount of bedding I need to purchase this was a no brainer. I resigned up and can't wait to start again. Who knows - maybe I'll do better this time!  If you'd like more info. let me know - I'd love to share it with you. It's a great company and great opportunity.

July

       Wow! Hard to believe this year is now 8 months old. July was busy for us - but I can't think of a time that's not. I know Scott and I are trying to just savor the moments we have! Here are a few highlights of our July...
     I was able to change my employment! I am now working in a much better place. Working for someone I respect who in turn respects me. It's amazing how much better of a situation this is for all of us!
    I had a week off between jobs so we took the kids to the Oklahoma Aquarium. What a treat that was! The kids fed turtles and stingrays. Robert got to pet a starfish, a sea cucumber, a stingray and a shark. Lauren made sure everyone realized they had an exhibit full of fish that looked like Nemo! They had a lot of fun! It's nice that we have something that cool within a short drive.
     My dad has taken ill. He is being treated for Sepsis and has been in a hospital since July 25. He's making progress, it's just not fast. It's hard to believe he's 79 and so recovery is just going to take longer. We're hoping he can come home soon.
    We have so much to be grateful for and appreciate the prayers that have been offered on my family's behalf.
     Here's hoping August will be a little more mild for us all.

Those are the highlights from Norman. Hopefully the USB ports on the computer will miraculously start working so I can add photos again...it tends to be a bit stale when I can't!

Memorial Day

     Just a few thoughts and words of my own for the men & women of our armed forces. How noble you all are. How grateful I am for all those who have served or are serving. Despite our country’s problems, this is still the best place on earth to live. It’s because of their dedication that the U.S. remains that way.

     Growing up my family always made the trek north to decorate the graves of loved ones who had gone one before. Grandparents, baby sisters, and a host of others. Besides getting to see the land of my ancestors, there would also be time to look through the rows of headstones to locate other relatives. Once they were located my dad would have a story about each one. Before making our stops at the cemeteries we would go to my Grandma’s (Mom’s mom) and clip peonies off her bushes. She always had the biggest blooms. What a way to remember our loved ones.

     Yesterday as we explained to the kids the reason we celebrate Memorial Day I was reminded again myself. I believe we need to take our kids to those cemeteries so we can tell them about those who have gone before us and allow us to be free.

April 2011

I am really trying to ease back into scrapbooking so I thought if I highlighted some things on the blog it might help me get a kick start!

April was so fun and so full!

 Robert's kindergarten class performed a reader's theater.

We had another beautiful Saturday so we took another trip to the zoo. This time to be sure to see the elephants. The OKC Zoo just built a brand-new exhibit/habitat for them. Then a week after we were there one of the elephant's had a baby. So we'll have to go back soon!!!

All of the kindergarten classes at Roosevelt went to the Science Museum Oklahoma for a field trip. Scott even went too! This is Robert riding a segway.

Robert played soccer with friends from church. He had a great time!!

Scott & I celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary! And last but not least...

EASTER - in Kansas...

We also had friends come from Virginia - yet we didn't take any pictures (what was I thinking?!)
