More than just May flowers

So May happened. There was a piano recital, a dance recital, last days of school, etc. I think you get the idea. Here are the pictures because they speak with more detail than I typically do...

We took video on a camera instead of our phone, so I have no idea where that is as I don't think it's been downloaded yet, so just imagine a 3rd year pianist playing. He sounds pretty good actually and earned a I at State this year!
This is Miss Ursula & him. We love
her so much!!!

Here's our ballerina. She LOVES to dance and be on stage. I got to be a backstage mom so I only got to see 3 dances of the 2 1/2 hour recital...you can decide for yourself if I was the lucky one or not!

Our school has a reading program each year and if the kids read so many books and all different genres and award winners they receive a gold, silver or bronze medal. Both the kids earned a gold medal. He really was thrilled.

This was the last day of school - he was a bit sad as he loved his teacher so much he didn't want to move on to the 4th grade. Fortunately for us, she's one of our neighbors so he thought he'd give 4th grade a chance.

On Memorial Day we tend to gravitate to the Wichita Mountains and their Refuge for some hiking. This year was no different. The kids love climbing on the rocks at Mount Scott. We also took a hike so we could enjoy nature a bit as well!

One of the kids took this lovely photo of the 2 of us.

If you look - there's a bird in flight in this photo above.

We were a little closer to this guy than we planned!

Just love the Indian Paint Brush with the rest of nature
in this shot.

Well, that was the month of May in our neck of the woods. Hope everyone is having a safe and fun summer!

1st Position

As I've said before (which you can find here) I was not a dancer growing up. I had lots of friends who were, I however opted for sports. The last 2 years she had this magnificent company which came to her daycare. They also hold classes in other locations and their teachers are great! So if you have a Tippi Toes franchise in your area I highly recommend them!

But yesterday was her first day taking ballet at a dance studio and she was super excited. Bless her heart it was all she could do to contain herself! I can tell she paid attention because she was showing me 1st position and last position. What's great for her is that I really don't know, she could be making it up!

I hope I can get pictures of her while she's in class. The joy on her face is really hard to describe or believe that she's really just that happy! Here's to many more classes of sheer joy!

Little Ballerina Girl

April & May proved to be performance months for our dancing girl! The first event was a performance before an Oklahoma City RedHawks baseball game. What worked out great was that it was also our elementary schools' night there too so she got to dance in front of people she knew!!! The RedHawks were leading as the rain rolled in so they won. We ended up getting totally soaked on our way to our car...good times!

Our girl on the jumbo tron!

 May brought her formal recital...

You knew there'd be a video...wait for it...

Now you can enjoy the rest of your day!

Ballerina Girl part 2

Here's the second dance she did on Saturday. For whatever reason it wouldn't up load earlier. I actually like this one a little more.

I think she's a little doll, but then again I am EXTREMELY biased!

Our little ballerina

Let me give a little bit of background. I was never a ballerina. I think the only dancing I did while growing up was either in my own house or at our high school dances. I now have a daughter and while there is nothing wrong with being a tomboy - I was happy when she expressed interest in taking dance lessons, more specifically ballet. (I thought it would help with her balance) I was also extremely happy that in our area we have a Tippi Toes franchise. These wonderful ladies come to my daughters daycare and bring those kids the opportunity to dance. I don't know if this wasn't an option if she could take dance right now.

So, yesterday some of the dancers from our area were brought together to entertain residents of a senior housing facility. My dancer was SUPER excited!

Now without any further ado for your viewing pleasure...our little ballerina...
